Rupantar Project Showcased at International Conference on Agricultural Transformation Hosted by AFU in Nepal

The Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), a key partner in the Rupantar project, successfully hosted an international conference titled "Agricultural Transformation for Sustainable Food System" from February 2-4, 2025, at their campus in Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal. The distinguished event was inaugurated by the Honorable Minister Mr. Ram Nath Adhikari from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, drawing over 200 participants representing more than 10 nations.

The conference featured a comprehensive program structure encompassing opening and technical sessions. The scientific discourse included 13 keynote presentations, 4 panel discussions, 4 technical presentations, and 15 poster presentations. These sessions explored various aspects of agricultural transformation, including the evolutionary history of sustainable agriculture, contemporary challenges and opportunities, primary drivers of change, and innovative practices in the field.

Dr. Narayan Prasad Khanal, Business Development Manager at CIMMYT, represented the Rupantar project and delivered a keynote presentation entitled "Innovations and Experience of Food System Transformation in South Asia." His presentation highlighted the collaborative partnerships, methodological approaches, and valuable insights gained from both the Rupantar project and other CIMMYT initiatives across South Asia. Professor Dr. Arjun Kumar Shrestha, who chaired the organizing committee, expressed his appreciation for the substantial contributions made by CIMMYT and the Rupantar project to the conference's success.

During his visit, Dr. Khanal conducted a strategic meeting with AFU's senior leadership, including Professor Dr. Sharada Thapaliya, Vice Chancellor, and Professor Dr. Pushkar Pal, Registrar. The meeting focused on evaluating the current implementation status of the Rupantar project, defining AFU's critical responsibilities within the project framework, and discussing the partnership modalities moving forward.
